Accessibility Statement

I am committed to making oliviawright.me accessible and inclusive for all visitors — including those who use assistive technologies or have visual, auditory, cognitive, or motor disabilities.

Standard

This site works toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines define how to make web content accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a checkbox — I continue to improve as I build and update the site.

What I’ve implemented

  • Logical heading structure for easier navigation (one H1 per page, followed by H2 and H3 in order)
  • Descriptive alt text on images throughout the site
  • Keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility
  • Color contrast that meets WCAG AA readability standards
  • Descriptive link text (“View my portfolio” rather than “click here”)
  • Minimal use of motion and animation; GIF headers are being replaced with static images
  • Captions or transcripts on multimedia where available
  • Ongoing review using accessibility tools and user feedback

Known limitations

  • Some older blog posts and portfolio entries may still have images without alt text. I am working through these systematically.
  • Some embedded third-party content — including Canva previews, Stripe payment forms, and externally hosted slide decks — may not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 AA, as those platforms are outside my direct control. I minimize these instances where possible.

Report an issue

If you encounter an accessibility barrier — a page that’s difficult to navigate, an image without a description, a form that’s hard to complete, or anything else — please let me know. I take these reports seriously and respond promptly.

Please include the URL and a description of what you encountered.

Platform

This site is hosted on WordPress.com. Platform-level accessibility is maintained by Automattic; see their Accessibility statement for details.
